Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.10.3.3 - Gather and select facts and ideas from one or multiple print and non-print sources, appropriate to the purpose, audience, context and culture

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least two print sources (e.g. books, newspapers, posters) and two non-print sources (e.g. radio, television, internet videos, interviews) for gathering facts and ideas for a speech.
Extract three to five key facts or ideas from a given source that are relevant to a specific speech purpose and audience.
Select and organise facts from at least two different sources to support one main point in a short speech.
Explain why certain facts are appropriate or inappropriate for a given audience, purpose, context and culture.
Present a short two-minute speech using facts gathered and selected from at least two sources, following the organisational structure of a speech (introduction, body, conclusion) taught in the previous lesson.
