Indicator: B5.1.10.3.1 - Present information about personal experiences

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State the purpose and audience for a speech about a personal experience.
  2. Identify the key parts of a short speech about a personal experience (beginning, middle, end).
  3. Plan a short speech about their own personal experience, choosing a clear purpose and audience.
  4. Present their planned speech to a small group or the class, speaking audibly and at an appropriate pace.
  5. Listen to peers’ speeches and give one positive comment and one suggestion for improvement.

- Model presenting a speech on a topic or have them listen to a recording of someone's personal experience. Use the example to guide learners to identify the (purpose of and audience for the speech.)
- Discuss the importance of purpose and audience in speech.
- Put learners in groups to plan a parallel speech and present to the class. Each group should select a purpose for and an audience for their speech.
