Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.10.1.2 - Demonstrate awareness of the differences between spoken and written forms of language e.g. simple and complex sentence structures

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify whether a given sentence is in spoken or written form based on its structure and features.
  2. Convert a simple spoken sentence into a more complete written sentence by adding subjects, verbs and connectors.
  3. Explain one key difference between how we speak and how we write (e.g. spoken language is often shorter, written language is more complete).
  4. Use both spoken and written forms correctly in a short paired activity.
  5. Sort given sentences into two groups: spoken forms and written forms, giving a reason for each choice.
