Indicator: B4.1.10.3.2 - Draw on prior knowledge to identify the subject matter of a speech

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State what a subject matter (topic) of a speech is and why identifying it before listening matters.
  2. Draw on their own prior knowledge and experiences to predict the subject matter of a speech from a title, an introduction, or a few opening words.
  3. Listen to short speech extracts and correctly identify the subject matter, giving a reason based on what they already knew.
  4. Share their prior knowledge about a familiar subject and connect it to the subject matter of a short speech.
  5. Apply the skill of using prior knowledge to decide the subject matter of speeches on familiar Ghanaian topics.
