Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.4.2.2.1 - Analyse the population structure in Ghana and its related issues.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain what population structure means and identify its key components (age, sex, and geographical distribution).
- Describe the current population structure of Ghana using data from the 2021 Population and Housing Census.
- Construct a bar graph to represent the age and sex distribution of their school population.
- Discuss at least three issues arising from Ghana’s population structure, such as youth unemployment, pressure on schools and health facilities, and rural-urban migration.
- Evaluate the relationship between Ghana’s population structure and national development using evidence from graphs and census data.
