Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.2.2.1.1 - Explain the importance of animal waste to plants

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define animal waste (dung, droppings) and explain what manure is in their own words.
  2. Explain at least three ways in which animal waste is important to plants and soil.
  3. Identify different types of animal waste found in their community (cattle, goat, sheep, chicken, pig) and compare their uses.
  4. Describe the process of preparing compost manure from plant and animal waste.
  5. Demonstrate responsible attitudes towards handling animal waste by discussing safety precautions.
