Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.2.2.1.1 Explore the relationship between living and non-living things in the environment

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Distinguish between living things (plants, animals, humans) and non-living things (soil, sunlight, water, air, land) using simple observable features.
  2. Explain at least two specific ways in which plants depend on non-living things such as soil, sunlight and water for survival.
  3. Describe how humans depend on air, water and land in their daily lives, with local examples.
  4. Work in groups to discuss and present the relationship between given pairs of living and non-living things.
  5. Predict what would happen to living things if one non-living thing (for example, water or sunlight) was removed from the environment.
