Learning Objectives

Indicator: K2.6.5.1.7 - Classify different food items into the parts of the plant from which we get it from.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Sort at least 10 different food items into the five plant part groups: root, stem, leaves, fruit, and seed.
  2. Count the number of food items in each group up to 20 and state the total.
  3. Match a numeral card to the correct quantity of food items in each group.
  4. Name at least one food item for each plant part group when asked by the teacher.
  5. Work with a partner to sort and count food pictures, taking turns and sharing materials.

Provide a variety of food items and have the learners sort and classify them into five categories=food from the root, stem, leaves, fruits, or seed. Count the number of objects in each category up to 20. E.g. guide learners to count the number of food item and pick a numeral card which matches the number quantity.
