Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.2.2.2.2 - Experiment with available performing arts media and techniques to create performing artworks based on own views, knowledge and understanding of the natural and manmade environments in some Ghanaian communities

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Identify at least three natural features (such as rivers, forests, mountains, beaches) and three manmade features (such as markets, schools, lorry stations, buildings) found in Ghanaian communities.
  • Explore the school surroundings to select available instruments, sounds and movement patterns suitable for composing a short performance piece.
  • Experiment with at least two different performing arts media (voice, body movement, percussion, found objects) to express an idea about a natural or manmade environment in a Ghanaian community.
  • Perform a short group composition that reflects one natural or manmade environment, using sounds and movements discovered through experimentation.
  • Give and receive simple peer feedback on performances using clear and respectful language.

Learners are to:
- explore the local surroundings to select available instruments, sounds, rhythms, movement patterns, etc. that are suitable for composing and performing music, dance, drama, poems, etc.;
- experiment with the available instruments, sounds, movement patterns, melody, etc. to perform some compositions of some Ghanaian artists studied which reflect the natural and manmade environments of some communities;
- discuss and share their experiences for peer review.
