Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.3.1.LI.2 - Describe the relief, drainage, climate and vegetation of West Africa and Africa
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Describe the major relief features of West Africa and Africa, naming the key highlands, lowlands and plateau regions.
- Identify the major drainage features, including the main rivers, lakes and drainage basins of West Africa and Africa.
- Describe the climatic zones of West Africa and Africa, and state the characteristics of each zone.
- Describe the major vegetation zones of West Africa and Africa, and relate them to the climate zones.
- Compare and contrast the physical geography of Ghana with the broader physical settings of West Africa and Africa.
This builds on Week 7’s work on the location, size and political divisions of West Africa and Africa, and prepares learners for later work on the human use of these physical environments.
