Learning Objectives
Indicator: 2.2.1.LI.2 - Discuss factors that influence adherence to regular participation in physical activity for healthy living practice
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define adherence and distinguish between adoption and adherence in the context of regular physical activity participation.
- Identify at least six personal, social, and environmental factors that influence a person’s ability to stick with a regular physical activity programme.
- Explain how personal barriers such as lack of time, motivation, and confidence affect long-term participation in physical activity.
- Discuss how social support from family, friends, and community influences adherence, giving at least two practical examples.
- Propose realistic strategies to overcome common barriers to adherence, demonstrating Level 3 strategic reasoning by justifying their choices.
