Indicator: B1.5.1.2.1 - know that clean air and water are essential to human health
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least three things in the local environment that make the air and water clean or dirty.
- Explain in their own words why breathing clean air and drinking clean water keep the body healthy.
- Predict what may happen to people if they breathe dusty air or drink dirty water.
- Suggest simple actions they can take at school and at home to keep the air and water clean.
- Sing a short song or draw a picture showing a clean environment.

- Go on a nature walk to observe the things in the environment - Learners talk about what they observed during the nature walk - Show pictures of the natural and human features of the environment - Engage learners to discuss what will happen to them if the environment is very dusty and unclean - Brainstorm with learners on what will happen if they do not weed or keep their school, home and community clean. - In groups learners present their ideas by explaining further why it is important to keep the environment clean. - Learners compose songs on how to keep the environment clean and draw pictures to depict clean environments.
