Indicator: B5.4.3.1.3
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain why a main idea in a paragraph needs elaboration, explanation, or examples to be clear and meaningful.
- Identify the main idea and the elaborating details (explanations and examples) in a model paragraph.
- Elaborate on a given topic sentence by adding at least two supporting details, such as an explanation and an example.
- Justify the choice of details they add to a paragraph by explaining how each detail supports the main idea.
- Work collaboratively in pairs to discuss, draft, and share elaborated paragraphs with the class.
