Learning Objectives
Indicator: K2.3.4.1.6 - Recognise and describe some simple repeating non-numerical patterns (up to a repetition of 3, 1, 2 pattern)
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify a repeating pattern of up to three items (for example, clap, stomp, tap) when shown by the teacher.
- Describe a simple 1, 2 or 3 step repeating pattern using words such as “first”, “next” and “again”.
- Continue a given non-numerical pattern by placing the next correct item in a sequence.
- Create their own simple repeating pattern using classroom objects such as blocks, bottle tops or picture cards.
- Work with a partner to check and talk about whether a pattern repeats correctly.
