Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.1.LI.3 - Generate and interpret graphs and charts to visualise data.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three types of charts (bar chart, pie chart, line graph) and state the kind of data each is best used to represent.
  2. Generate a bar chart, a pie chart and a line graph from a given data set using spreadsheet software.
  3. Interpret data presented in graphical formats by reading values, comparing categories and describing trends.
  4. Explain the strengths and limitations of each chart type when presenting numerical information.
  5. Select an appropriate chart type for a given data set and justify that choice.
