Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.1.LI.4 - Format the overall appearance of a page through colours, watermarks, headers and footers, page layout, paragraph and line, change capitalisation, bordering and shading, perform bullets and numbering, do page column, tables, graphics) using desktop/online computing tools (word processing software e.g., MS Word, Google Docs) keyboard, mouse etc.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and describe at least six page formatting features (colours, watermarks, headers and footers, page layout, borders and shading) in word processing software and state the purpose of each.
- Apply page layout settings such as margins, orientation, and size to a document using MS Word or Google Docs, or by describing the steps where no computer is available.
- Insert headers and footers, a watermark, and page colours into a sample document and explain the effect of each on the overall appearance.
- Format text by changing capitalisation, applying borders and shading, and organising lists with bullets and numbering in a short document.
- Create a one-page flyer or announcement that combines columns, a table, and a graphic, demonstrating responsible and ethical use of the tools, and present it to a partner for feedback.
