Learning Objectives

Indicator: K2.6.8.1.6 - Identify and describe the elements of art in the environment and create their own artwork

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Point to at least three different sources of light in pictures and name them (e.g., sun, moon, torch, lantern).
  2. Describe what they see in a picture of a light source using simple art words like line, shape and colour.
  3. Sort pictures of light sources into two groups: natural light and man-made light.
  4. Create their own picture of a light source using crayons, paper or coloured cards.
  5. Talk about their own artwork and the artwork of a friend, saying one thing they like about it.

Display a variety of pictures and other art work of natural and man-made lights, learners observe them and describe the way they are created. Learners then draw or use different cards to design their own picture of the various sources of light.
