Natural and Man-made (artificial) Sources of Light

Learning Objectives
Indicator: K2.6.8.1.1 - Talk about the natural and artificial sources of light and what each is best used for.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Name at least two natural sources of light (the sun, the moon, stars, fire).
- Name at least two man-made (artificial) sources of light (torch, candle, lantern, electric bulb, lamp).
- Sort pictures or objects into natural light and man-made light groups during a sorting game.
- State one thing each light source is best used for (for example, the sun gives light in the day, a torch helps us see in the dark).
- Recite a short rhyme about natural and man-made light sources with the class.

* Learners say the poem "I see the moon" * In a community circle time, learners talk about the different sources of light using the Conversational poster # 27. * Discuss the different types of light we use during the day and in the night. Have learners brainstorm the sources from which we get these lights. Scaffold the learners to identify and classify the sources of light as God made or natural and man-made. Have learners give examples of each category. Recite the rhyme E.g. I can see the sun; it is a natural light. I can see the candle; it is a manmade light.
