Learning Objectives
Indicator: K2.6.8.1.5 - Use individual letter-sounds to form simple mono-syllabic content and sight words.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and say the individual letter sounds in simple one-syllable words related to light sources (such as sun, moon, star, lamp, torch).
- Blend two or three letter sounds together to form simple mono-syllabic words.
- Form simple words using letter cards to match pictures of natural and artificial light sources.
- Read aloud the words they have formed with accuracy and confidence.
- Sort and group words according to whether they name a natural or man-made source of light.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Put the class into three groups, give each group a picture card E.g. moon, star, sun, candle, touch light etc. and letter cards (d, a, n, c, s. g, o,u, l etc.). Guide each group to form their new words with the letter cards which matches with the picture they have and read them.
