Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.4.2.LI.1 - Discuss the concept of taxation and the sources of taxes in Ghana
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the meaning of taxation and distinguish between direct and indirect taxes with local examples.
- Identify at least six different sources of taxes in Ghana, classifying each as either a direct or indirect tax.
- Describe the purposes of taxation in national development, linking each purpose to a specific public good or service in Ghana.
- Discuss the rights and obligations of taxpayers in Ghana, including the importance of the Tax Identification Number (TIN).
- Work collaboratively in groups to research and present findings on sources of taxes using digital tools.
