Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.4.2.LI.2 - Examine the role taxes play in nation building, challenges of taxation, and how the challenges can be addressed
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain at least four roles taxes play in nation building in Ghana, citing specific public goods and services funded by tax revenue.
- Identify and describe at least five challenges of taxation in Ghana, including both taxpayer-side and government-side difficulties.
- Propose practical solutions to address the challenges of taxation, evaluating which solutions are most feasible in the Ghanaian context.
- Analyse a given scenario involving tax evasion or avoidance and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
- Demonstrate, through role-play or discussion, an understanding of the civic duty of tax payment as part of responsible citizenship.
