Indicator: B8.5.1.1.4 - Use literary devices (euphemism, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, etc.) in texts

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify euphemism, hyperbole and onomatopoeia in selected narratives, poems and drama extracts.
  2. Explain the effect of each literary device on the meaning of a text.
  3. Use euphemism and hyperbole appropriately in original spoken sentences.
  4. Use onomatopoeia to create vivid sound effects in short written passages.
  5. Work in pairs to present a short dialogue that contains at least two literary devices.
