Indicator: B4.5.3.1.1 - Identify and use nouns in sentences to identify people, animals, events and objects

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a noun as a naming word for a person, animal, event or object.
  2. Identify nouns in given sentences and short paragraphs by pointing them out and explaining what they name.
  3. Sort nouns into four groups: people, animals, events and objects.
  4. Form their own sentences using nouns from all four groups and underline the nouns correctly.
  5. Write common nouns beginning with small letters in their own sentences.

- Have learners read simple sentences with names of people, animals, events and objects on the board.
- Put learners in groups to identify the names of people, animals, events and objects as nouns.
- Have learners form sentences with names of people, animals, events and objects and underline these names/nouns in the sentences.
- Have them note that common nouns start with small letters.
- Have learners identify common nouns from paragraphs/passages.
