Learning Objectives
Indicator: K1.7.1.1.2 - talk about the various means by which we connect with the international community-Trade
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Recite a short poem about buying and selling with teacher guidance.
- Identify and pronounce at least 4 keywords related to trade (trade, buy, sell, market, money) from word cards.
- Describe in simple sentences how traders in other countries buy and sell goods, using a conversational poster.
- State at least one reason why people travel to other countries to trade.
- Role play buying and selling using the keywords learned.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Have learners sit in a semi-circle position and say a poem about buying and selling. Using a conversational poster/pictures, discuss how traders buy and sell in other countries. Have word cards for the keywords and assist learners pronounce them and use some to make simple sentences. Discuss with learners some of the basic reasons why people travel to other countries to trade and some of the things people trade in. Have learners role play buying and selling using the some of the keywords. Using LEA, assist learners to compose a simple story on the poster.
