Learning Objectives

Indicator: K1.7.1.1.5 - Use vocabulary learnt to form simple sentences in real life situation.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Read aloud at least 6 vocabulary words from the keyword chart (e.g. aeroplane, car, boat, buy, sell, travel).
Form a simple sentence of 4 to 6 words using a given vocabulary word, with teacher support.
Use vocabulary words correctly in a role play of buying and selling at a market centre.
Draw and talk about one thing we buy from another country, using a complete sentence to describe it.
Solve simple addition and subtraction story problems with answers up to 9, using words related to travel and trade.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

List keywords on a chart and guide learners to read. Let each form a sentence with a word. E.g. I will go to Dubai to buy goods for my friends. I will use aeroplane to travel to China. My parents and I will go to Togo with a car etc.
Learners to role play how neighbouring countries buy and sell using the market centre as a tool. Discuss and draw some things we buy from other countries. Using story problems guide learners to add or subtract single digit numbers which sums up to 9.
