Learning Objectives
Indicator: B4.1.3.1.1 - Explain and appreciate the importance of being a committed member of the family
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Name at least five members of their family and state how each one is related to them.
- Describe at least four behaviours expected of a committed family member (for example, obedience, respect, taking part in family activities, and accepting responsibility).
- Explain in their own words at least three reasons why it is important to be a committed member of the family.
- Demonstrate commitment by performing a simple assigned duty during a class activity and reflecting on how it felt.
- Draw and colour a picture of one family member and label one way they show commitment to that person.

Learners talk about family members e.g. mother, father, siblings, uncles, aunties, grandparents. Learners talk about behaviours expected of committed members of the family e.g. obedience, respect, dedication e.g. taking part in family activities, obedience to elders of the family, respect for family members, accepting responsibility (performing assigned duties), taking initiatives, helping needy relatives. Learners talk about the importance of being a committed family member e.g. to promote unity, to gain respect, to be considered a trustworthy person.
