Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.2.2.LI.1 - Explain the meaning and benefits of Agricultural irrigation and drainage systems.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define agricultural irrigation and drainage systems in their own words, distinguishing between the two concepts.
  2. State at least four benefits of irrigation systems and four benefits of drainage systems in agricultural production.
  3. Explain at least three problems or challenges associated with the use of irrigation and drainage systems in Ghanaian agriculture.
  4. Discuss the specific challenges that women and persons with disabilities face in accessing irrigation facilities in their communities.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-gender and mixed-ability groups to research, present, and discuss information on irrigation and drainage systems.
