Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.2.1.1.2 - Experiment by using techniques in casting to create visual artworks
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and describe the three casting techniques: filled-in, hump and hollow, using art-specific vocabulary such as form and casting.
- Design an original cast artwork by selecting an appropriate casting technique and planning the materials needed.
- Apply the filled-in and hump casting techniques to create a visual artwork using locally available materials such as clay, sand and plaster.
- Display completed cast artworks and give constructive peer and self feedback using simple evaluation criteria.
- Compare the visual and textural outcomes of the different casting techniques and justify which technique suits a given design.
