Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.2.1.1.3 - Apply artistic techniques in folding by using available media to make creative artworks.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and demonstrate the techniques of creasing, pleating, knotting and folding using paper, fabric and ribbon.
  2. Research and discuss at least one artist who uses folding techniques in their artwork, and explain how that artist’s work influences their own design choices.
  3. Apply creasing, pleating and knotting techniques to create a folded artwork (a decorative fan, a paper bag or a fabric rosette) using available media.
  4. Use art-specific vocabulary (creasing, pleating, knotting, folding) to describe their own and peers’ work during display and reflection.
  5. Evaluate their own finished artwork and a peer’s artwork using simple self-assessment and peer-assessment criteria, identifying one strength and one area for improvement.
