Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.2.1.1.3 - Apply techniques of drawing direct observation/memory and imagination to make own visual artworks

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and name at least three techniques used in drawing from direct observation, memory, and imagination (e.g., contour drawing, gesture drawing, tonal shading, line variation, and proportion).
  2. Apply at least two different drawing techniques to create original artworks from direct observation of a real object in the classroom.
  3. Create one artwork from memory and one from imagination, using suitable techniques for each source.
  4. Use art-specific vocabulary (tone, line, pattern, form, shape) to describe their own work and the work of peers during display and review.
  5. Evaluate their own and peers’ artworks using simple peer- and self-assessment criteria, and reflect on what they would improve.
