Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.2.1.3.8 - Identify and demonstrate the various Ghanaian dance/body movements, positions and voice projection patterns

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least four traditional Ghanaian dance movements and name the regions or ethnic groups associated with them.
  2. Demonstrate correct body posture and positions used in Ghanaian dance and drama performance.
  3. Practise voice projection patterns, distinguishing between speaking voice, singing voice and projected stage voice.
  4. Perform a short rhythmic movement sequence combining two or more Ghanaian dance steps with appropriate facial expressions and gestures.
  5. Evaluate their own performance and a peer’s performance using simple criteria such as posture, expression, timing and voice clarity.
