Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.5.2.LI.2 - Discuss the advantages of manufactured boards over solid wood.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. State at least four advantages of manufactured boards over solid wood from their group discussions and the teacher’s presentation.
  2. Explain, in their own words, why manufactured boards are generally cheaper and more stable than solid wood.
  3. Compare manufactured boards and solid wood by tabulating differences in cost, stability, size, and surface quality.
  4. Identify at least two limitations of manufactured boards, showing a balanced understanding of the topic.
  5. Justify the choice of a manufactured board over solid wood for a given woodwork project scenario.
