Learning Objectives

Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.1 - Discuss the types of maps and their importance

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define a map in their own words and identify at least four key elements of a map.
  2. Classify at least five different types of maps based on their purpose (e.g., topographical, political, physical, road, weather, etc.).
  3. Explain at least three distinct importance of maps in everyday life and national development, using Ghanaian examples.
  4. Compare and contrast different types of maps, identifying their features and specific uses through a think-pair-share activity and whole-class discussion.
  5. Write short notes on a selected map type, describing its features and practical uses in a structured paragraph.
