Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.2.3.1.1 - Locate major land marks on a sketch map of the community

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. identify at least five major landmarks in their own community, such as the school, post office, police station, church, and mosque.
  2. describe the position of a landmark using directional language such as near, beside, opposite, behind, and between.
  3. give simple directions from one landmark to another using familiar community features.
  4. sketch a simple map of the community showing at least four major landmarks in their correct relative positions.
  5. read and interpret a peer’s sketch map to locate a stated landmark.
