Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.1.5.1.6 - Change direction quickly to maintain one’s balance while running with an object through obstacles.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate the correct technique for changing direction quickly while maintaining balance when running with an object.
- Perform a series of obstacle runs, stopping at each cone to change direction while keeping control of a handheld object.
- Explain how shifting body weight and lowering the centre of gravity helps maintain balance during rapid direction changes.
- Apply safe running and stopping techniques during a warm-up, obstacle practice, and cool-down routine.
- Show teamwork and patience while taking turns and encouraging peers during obstacle course activities.

Exemplar. Learners go through adequate warm-up. Arrange set of cones in a straight line. Learners walk through the spaces within the cones. Learners jog through and stop at every cone/station to change direction. Learners run and stop in front of a cone and change direction. Learners practice the skill at their own pace. Learners end with cool down.
