Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B6.1.7.1.8 - Strike a gently tossed ball with a bat, using a forehand and backhand movement pattern.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate the correct ready position for striking a ball with a bat: feet shoulder-width apart, one foot forward, knees bent, trunk slightly leaning forward, and bat held with one hand.
  2. Perform a forehand strike on a gently tossed ball, swinging the bat from the side and contacting the ball at the right height.
  3. Perform a backhand strike on a gently tossed ball, using the opposite side of the bat and maintaining balance throughout the swing.
  4. Strike a gently tossed ball toward a target with control, showing accuracy in at least 3 out of 5 attempts.
  5. Apply simple rules of safety, such as waiting for the ball to be tossed, watching the ball onto the bat, and staying behind the playing area.
