Learning Objectives
Indicator: B5.1.7.1.7
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate the correct grip and ready position for holding a racket or paddle before striking a dropped ball.
- Perform a forehand strike on a dropped ball, sending it toward a partner positioned about 6 metres away.
- Perform a backhand strike on a dropped ball, sending it toward a partner positioned about 6 metres away.
- Strike a dropped ball alternately using forehand and backhand movement patterns with increasing accuracy and control.
- Work cooperatively with a partner, taking turns to toss, strike and retrieve the ball with patience and good sportsmanship.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
After warm-ups as usual, learners are put in pairs with a ball racket/paddle. Learners toss a ball and swing the bat/paddle from behind to strike the ball to a partner about 6m away using a racquet or paddle. Let the part strike the ball.
