Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.10.1.12 - Keep a hand-dribbled ball away from a defensive partner.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate a hand dribble using alternate hands while moving in different directions.
  2. Keep a hand-dribbled ball away from a defensive partner by placing their body between the ball and the partner.
  3. Change direction and speed while dribbling to protect the ball from a defender.
  4. Work cooperatively with a partner, taking turns as dribbler and defender.
  5. Apply the skill of protective dribbling in a small-sided game situation.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Learners in pairs after a warm up. They use their hands to dribble balls away from their partners. Learners alternate the hand used in the dribble. Keep ball away from partners by placing your body in between ball and partner.
