Learning Objectives

Indicator: B2.1.12.1.15 - Clap and dance to beat (rhythm)

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Clap hands in steady rhythm to a simple beat played by the teacher or from a drum.
  2. Move their feet and body to match the same beat they are clapping.
  3. Keep their clapping and dancing coordinated for at least 8 counts without stopping.
  4. Demonstrate the difference between moving on the beat and moving off the beat.
  5. Perform a short rhythmic sequence of claps and dance steps together with a partner or small group.

Learners clap a beat and dance to the beat. Emphasis on coordination in clapping to the beat and coordination dancing. Give learners corrective feedback to improve their coordination. Allow them to progress at their own pace with fun and enjoyment.
