Learning Objectives
Indicator: B2.1.6.1.6 - Strike a ball continuously in an upward or forward motion, using a hand and foot
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate the correct standing position (shoulder width apart, opposite foot forward) for striking a ball with the hand.
- Strike a ball upward continuously with the palm of the hand, keeping it in the air for at least 3 consecutive hits.
- Strike a ball in an upward motion using the foot (instep or top of the foot) and maintain control for at least 2 consecutive hits.
- Work cooperatively with teammates in a mini-game that requires striking a ball in an upward or forward motion.
- Apply the key principles of accuracy, balance and patience when striking a ball continuously.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Learners go through warm up activities as usual. Stand at shoulder width apart with the foot opposite the striking hand slightly forward. Toss a ball up and wing the arm forward to strike the ball at the bottom upward. Follow the ball and strike it as it drops continuously until it drops. Guide learner s to practice at their own pace. Put them in mini-teams to play a game. End lesson to with cool down.
