Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.1.7.1.7

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate the correct grip and stance for holding a large, short-handled paddle when striking a light ball.
  2. Strike a light ball upward continuously at least 5 times without losing control, using a large, short-handled paddle.
  3. Show coordination by tracking the ball with their eyes as it drops and striking it at the right moment.
  4. Work cooperatively with a partner to serve the ball and keep a rally going in a pair game.
  5. Apply safety rules and show fair play during practice and the pair rally game.

After general and specific warm-ups, demonstrate to learners how to strike a ball upward continuously using a large, short-handled paddle:
1. Stand shoulder width apart with a ball and short-handle paddle. Toss the ball up and strike it upwards continuously as it drops to your reach with short-handle paddle or bat.
2. Guide learners to practice as individuals and in groups at their own pace.
3. Organise game for learners in pairs to serve and play a rally for fun and enjoyment
End the lesson with cool down.
