Learning Objectives

Indicator: B1.1.10.1.12 - Bouncing and dribbling a ball (continuously) with one hand.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Perform a continuous one-hand bounce of a ball while standing still, keeping the ball at waist height for at least 10 bounces.
  2. Dribble a ball through a straight line of cones using slow, continuous pushes with one hand while maintaining control.
  3. Demonstrate proper hand position (fingers spread, palm relaxed) and consistent force when bouncing the ball.
  4. Apply the dribbling skill in a simple game situation by moving with the ball while avoiding cones and other players.
  5. Show patience, concentration, and fair play while practising individually and in small groups.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)

Arrange cones in a straight line after warm-ups. Place a ball about 50cm in front of the first cone. Move the ball through the cones by making slow and continuous push in a serpentine movement. Guide learners to practices the skill as individuals and in a group while you supervise and give feedback.
Organise mini handball game for learners to apply the skill in real life for fun, enjoyment and skill mastery. Let learners cool down to end the lesson.
