Locomotor, Manipulative and Rhythmic Skills
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B1.1.10.1.13 - Move the ball forward while dribbling with the hand and with the foot by varying the amount of force (push).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and describe the difference between a soft push and a hard push when moving a ball with the hand or foot.
- Dribble a ball with one hand through a straight line of cones, using slow, continuous pushes to keep the ball close and controlled.
- Dribble a ball with the foot through the same cone arrangement, varying the force of each push to navigate the serpentine path.
- Apply both hand and foot dribbling in a small group practice, adjusting force based on the distance between cones.
- Demonstrate fair play, patience and teamwork while participating in a mini football game that applies the dribbling skill.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Arrange cones in a straight line after warm-ups. Place a ball about 50cm in front of the first cone. Move the ball through the cones with the hands and later with the feet by making slow and continuous push in a serpentine movement. Guide learners to practices the skill as individuals and in a group with varying force while you supervise and give feedback. Vary the arrangements of the cone for practice to cater for slow and fast push. Organise mini football game for learners to apply the skill in real life for fun, enjoyment and skill mastery. Let learners cool down to end the lesson.
