Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: K1.6.1.1.1 - Talk about different types of things around us and classify them into living things and non-living things

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Talk about different things they see around them in the classroom, at home and on the school compound.
  • Recite a short rhyme or poem about things around us and mention the things they heard in the rhyme.
  • Tell whether a given thing is a living thing or a non-living thing and give a simple reason (for example, “it grows” or “it does not move”).
  • Sort picture cards and real objects into two groups: living things and non-living things.
  • Use simple words like “living” and “non-living” when describing things they observe during a nature walk.
