By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Sort objects from their environment into living things and non-living things by giving reasons for their grouping
  • Describe at least four differences between living and non-living things (movement, growth, feeding, reproduction)
  • Explain what happens to living things when they die, using simple examples
  • Work with a partner to share and compare ideas about living and non-living things
  • Answer questions such as: What are examples of living things? What are examples of non-living things? In what ways are living things different from non-living things?
