Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.1.7.1.7 - Make simple generalisations based on the main ideas and key details of a text
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the main idea and at least three key details from a short story read aloud by the teacher.
- Define a generalisation in their own words and give one original example.
- Formulate simple generalisations that connect the main idea and key details of a text, using sentence frames such as “In general…”, “Most of the time…”, or “Overall…”.
- Distinguish between a statement that is a valid generalisation from a text and one that is too broad or unsupported by details.
- Work in pairs to share and justify their generalisations using evidence from the text.
