Learning Objectives

Indicator: B5.1.7.1.1 - Employ the Think-Aloud strategy to convey meaning from level-appropriate texts.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Listen attentively to a teacher-read or audio text and identify the main characters, setting, and key events.
  2. Demonstrate the Think-Aloud strategy by verbalising their thoughts, questions, and confusions while listening to a text.
  3. Use sentence starters such as “I think…”, “This reminds me of…”, “I wonder why…”, and “That does not make sense because…” to express their thinking during listening.
  4. Explain, in their own words, how thinking aloud helps a listener understand a story better.
  5. Practise the Think-Aloud strategy in pairs, sharing at least two thoughts or questions about a short text with a partner.
