Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.1.2.4.3 - Demonstrate communicative skill by assigning the appropriate expressions for seasonal greetings and well wishes.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify at least three different seasonal greetings and well wishes in Arabic and state the occasion for which each is used.
  2. Match given Arabic expressions to their correct occasions (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, Ramadan, weddings, new baby, recovery from illness).
  3. Produce the appropriate greeting or well wish when the teacher names a specific occasion in Arabic or English.
  4. Respond correctly to a seasonal greeting when it is spoken aloud, using the proper reply.
  5. Apply the appropriate expression in a short role-play of a seasonal occasion such as Eid visiting or a naming ceremony.
