Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.2.4.4 - Demonstrate skills in using some cultural gestures that are used on special occasions.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the four Arabic cultural expressions (ما شاء الله، تبارك الله، يا حسرتاه، يا ليتني، إن شاء الله) and state when each is used.
- Distinguish between situations that call for each expression through listening to short scenarios read by the teacher.
- Demonstrate the appropriate facial expression, tone, and accompanying gesture for each expression during role-play.
- Respond correctly to a spoken situation by choosing the right cultural expression from a set of options.
- Use at least two of the expressions in a short spoken exchange appropriate to a special occasion (e.g., naming ceremony, wedding, funeral, or travel departure).
