Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.1.2.3.2 - Show understanding of simple expressions related to courtesies and requests for favours or excuses.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the meaning and context of the expressions لو سمحت (please), من فضلك (if you please), and ما شاء الله (what God has willed) when heard in short spoken sentences.
- Distinguish between expressions used for polite requests and expressions used for showing appreciation or admiration.
- Respond appropriately with a suitable courtesy expression when given a spoken scenario in Arabic.
- Use listening cues such as tone and context to determine whether a speaker is making a request, granting a favour, or excusing themselves.
- Demonstrate understanding by matching spoken expressions to the correct situation from a set of pictures or described contexts.
